I am named for my great-great uncle, Luke White. He was the oldest of five brothers, a minister, and known as a person of good character. I think I kind of look like him too. As far as the length of my name goes, I am glad that it is short, and I think is easy for others to remember. I am very proud of my last name and honored to be a part of the White family. When my dad tells me stories of how my grandfather and great-grandfather were both Rhodes scholars, or how my ancestor was Theodor Roosevelt's right hand man as a part of the Rough Riders, it reassures how proud I am to be a part of my family. My family history has motivated me to be successful in life. When I saw the statue of my great-great-great-great grandfather, Ephraim McDowell, in the Capital at age 10, I made a decision that I will my tail off in life to be remembered.
