Recommendations Courtesy of the Three Witches

The Three Witches in Macbeth are like that one bad friend that is always trying to influence you to do bad things.  Always tempting you towards evil.  I will be creating a list of shows/movies that the Witches from Macbeth would recommend, most with characters that serve the purpose of being that "bad influence." Mean Girls When Cady Heron (played by Lindsey Lohan) comes from Africa to a new school in Illinois, she looks for a group of friends to fit into.  To her personal pleasure, she ends up becoming friends with the three most popular girls in school, known as The Plastics: Regina George, Gretchen Wieners, and Karen Smith.  While Cady initially thinks that her new friends will be nice to her, they actually end up being extremely bad influences, especially Regina George.  Not only is this a classic example of characters influencing others for the worse, but the Witches would be especially fond of this movie because of the fact that (like the Witches) it is...

Fate vs. Free Will

I do not believe that my life has been guided by fate or chance.  I am a firm believer in the notion that you can do anything that you put your mind to.  Additionally, I believe that the quote "I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul" from the poem Invictus accurately describes my attitude towards life.  I am not totally dismissing the idea of fate, I just believe that willpower can be much more impactful in one's life. Part of my belief in free will stems from my perspective of being a citizen in a capitalist country where kids are encouraged to pursue their dreams and where the opportunity to "make it" exists for people of all race, sex, and religion (to some extent, but that's a different conversation).  However, this opportunity is not universal, and in many parts of the world, children are not encouraged to pursue their dreams and do not have the resources to do so nonetheless.  Therefore, if I lived in a different place with different...
