A: 7. I tried to show a "very good" understanding of the text by stressing how important this passage is within the text as a whole and trying to choose different references to other parts of the texts to support what was going on in the passage.
B: 4. I did reference some stylistic devices, like metaphors and the structure of the passage, but didn't use them to a great extent nor did I talk about their "effects on the reader."
C: 3. I tried to make my response as organized and as clear as possible by having a thesis, 3 "body paragraphs" or themes that were present in the passage, and then repeating my thesis. I'm not positive if this came across thought.
D: 4. I thought my language was ok. I said "um" a lot and had some pauses where I was trying t find a quote or think about what I say going to say but I hope that is common and is taken into account in the grading. When I wasn't saying "um," I thought my language was good, but not great.
Hey!

Be sure you give the basic context (title, author, year of publication) at the beginning
Watch out for paraphrasing (around 3:00-4:00 specifically)- you want to analyze the techniques used to develop the author's purpose of the passage, not just restate what the author wrote (and this is tricky with Shakespeare). What is the purpose of the passage and HOW does the author develop it? WHY?
Hey what up Luke. Your IOC was pretty dope except you talked real slow and youi spent a little too long describing what happens in the excerpt at the beginning. Also not sure I got a real solid thesis at the beginning besides "its important". Maybe I just didn't listen good though. I'm writing this while listening haha. I feel like there;s alot of summery in this, dog. Not great. Oh, man! You missed such a good opportunity to mention metaphor with the whole "mind full of scoprions" stuff. Ya need sum more stylistic features, all I'm saying. Good stuff with the whole "power dynamic" thing though. I mean I don't have the rubric in fronta me but it sounded pretty good i dunno. Ok maybe you did have a thesis at the beginning I guess I could go back and listen but, nah. 6.5/10
ReplyDeleteAwesome IOC! It was really interesting to see how you approached this passage because mine was also from Macbeth. While the organization and presentation of your IOC could use some improvement, your ideas were really strong and all connected to specific references within the passage which I liked. I also really liked how you wrote out a full outline which I will definitely be doing for my actual IOC.
